From The American Academy of Pediatrics
The virus that causes COVID-19 was discovered in China in December 2019 and has now spread internationally as well as to the United States. While we do know it is contagious, it does not seem that children are at higher risk.
Symptoms of COVID-19
People with confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported illnesses ranging from mild to severe. Symptoms can include:
- Shortness of breath
- Body aches
- Sore throat (Sore throat alone is not a risk)
If your child has been exposed to COVID-19, traveled internationally in the past 3 months, or you are concerned about your child’s symptoms, call your pediatrician immediately.
